The latest toy craze to hit the stores and have just been put on the top ten toy hot list for Christmas. At first, limited supply meant that unscrupulous traders were inflating the prices of these furry creatures to ridiculous levels, as is the case most of the time with the latest ‘must have’ toy. Fortunately, reality has now set in and the hamsters themselves, as well as the range of add on accessories can now be found at normal prices. |
| |
The hamsters themselves come in four varieties – Pipsqueak, Num Nums, Mr Squiggles and Chunk. Each of them different in color and with their own unique personalities. Small in size and full of movement and sound, they will scurry around and really provide your kids with endless hours of interactive fun. Simply push your hamster’s back to set it into loving or explore mode, or push again to turn it off for sleep. |
| |
The accessories that are available for the Zhu Zhu hamsters allow your child to expand the interactive nature of the hamster pet and really get the most fun and play time with them. The Funhouse is the most popular accessory which essentially provides a hamster habitat for your child’s hamster to go scurrying around in and out of. Other accessories range from skateboards to cars to slides and exercise wheels. |
| |
Both the hamsters themselves and the accessories are well built and provide endless hours of fun and interaction for kids. We would emphasize, however, that the manufacturer does not recommend this toy for children under 4 years of age. The wheels do rotate quickly and rapid movement changes are part of the fun, however, care should be taken not to get things caught in the way of the spinning wheels, as is the common sense case with any small children and toys that have moving parts. |

| If you’re looking for an inexpensive toy and you want to suppress your little ones pleading for the latest toy craze, then you really can’t go wrong with a toy hamster from Zhu Zhu Pets. Of course as is the case with all of the latest Christmas hot toys, if your kid has their heart set on a Zhu Zhu hamster, you would be best advised, as most parents that have been caught in this trap before, buying it early and hiding it for Christmas morning, especially since Toys R Us has just added them to their Christmas top ten toy list, which means that limited supply will mean that you will have to either pay a ridiculously high price or let your child go without…last minute shopping parents…you have been warned! |
|
 |
Fun, wide range of accessories, durable, keeps your kids busy and quiet for hours, inexpensive retail price |
 |
Not recommended for children under 4 years old |
| |
Parents that have been fortunate enough to have been able to get their hands on one of these hamster pets are more or less thrilled that it provides their child with endless hours of fun and peace and quiet during that time for the parent! Kids love the interactive nature of the soft furry critters and putting their pet hamster through all of the accessories that are available on the market now. The only downside that the parents find, is that the more the kids love them, the more they use them and hence the more batteries that they get through. So be warned, invest in some rechargeable batteries, or get some spares when your kid’s hamster starts to move in slow motion. |
| |
Parents recognize the fact that they are not particularly educational (apart from experiencing hamster scurrying habits and sounds), but they are a great inexpensive bit of fun that your kids will love. Adding some of the accessories for the hamster itself will increase their fun and play even more. Accessories now range from cars to the funhouse to skateboards, to name but a few. |

I got up early and was able to get Zhu Zhu Pets hamsters at WalMart. So glad because I know they are selling out stores because I've been calling everywhere.
Anyway, my kids have been playing with them all day. And then hair got wrapped around the little wheel and I thought one had broke so I spent forever trying to get the hair off -- but that's not what was making an additional squealing noise and making the wheels stop turning.
The little Zhu Zhu pets hamsters just needed new batteries. They came with 2 AAA batteries from the manufacturer -- and I'm sure they weren't in the store that long so that little hands could've worn out the batteries thru the "try me" window.
They must've just come with batteries not as good as the ones I changed them into. Because I just popped in some Duracel or whatever batteries -- and now the Zhu Zhu Pets run even faster than when we first bought them this morning.
My children are playing with them as I write.
Now we want all the Zhu Zhu pets in the collection -- and the accessories. Maybe by Christmas or before... |

Great toy. Grandson loves them. Yes, maybe I could have got them somewhere else for less money, but it was worth it to me with my schedule to just buy them and have them delivered! I don't have time to go to multiple Wal-Mart stores. Supply and demand, the American way!

| I bought these for my 2 daughters and they truly love them! I'm tired of all of the complaints about sellers! I am way too busy to go through what all these sellers do for their customers. I remember when a most wanted toy was out of stock at the stores and you had no recourse so I'm just happy to have somewhere to buy this and have it delivered to my door with just a click! My neighbor sells for ebay and she works herself to death trying to make a few dollars. After she adds up her time and gas, the 20% fee she pays for each item sold, extra shipping, etc., she really doesn't make much. So buy it if you want and be happy, otherwise, pass it by and stop complaining! |
4 stars...only if you paid the $7each suggested retail price & didn't get ripped off.

| If you can't find one of these for your kids....wait. Don't be stupid & pay $50 or even $100 that some of these jerks are trying to get for them. They just aren't worth it!! My son got one & likes it fine, but months ago he got another hamster like this one at Cracker Barrell that had a wheel & was every bit as cute for $15!!!! They just aren't that special & they will be trying to give them away in stores after Christmas & the kids that got them will have lost all interest by then anyways!!!!!! |

Fun toy, for no more than $8 each!

These are fun little toys - very similar to a mouse toy our cat has! These entertain our kids (and our cat) for hours! They were worth the $8 we paid. They aren't worth more than that price!
I know they are hard to find, but how does that excuse amazon sellers from charging today's price of $99.99 plus shipping (for a grand total of $108.10) for two little $8 hamsters? If you pay the REALISTIC price, they are a fun little buy, but they are not worth much more, not matter how much your child wants them. |

| WOW what a rip off. Two Zhu Zhu Pet Hamsters for $50.00. We were at Wal-Mart and got lucky, paid $8.00 each for them. They are the same as the Pets ordered from Amazon. They are very hard to find but just keep checking Wal-Mart and Toys R Us |

| The toy is a christmas present so I can't review it. But it was very expensive, considering that at other stores it was less than half the price. |
My 4 yr old's favorite toy

| My daughters were fortunate enough to get Chunk and Mr. Squiggles. My oldest received one as a gift and she liked it, but my 4 yr old just loved it. So after christmas, I popped in to CVS and there were a few zhuzhu hamsters on the counter by the cashier, so my 4 yr old asked for her very own one and picked out Chunk. She loves him and takes him everywhere. We found at another CVS a bed and blanket for Chunk. In my opinion they are neat toys, but I would never pay the outrageous amounts that people were paying. The one I bought my daughter was like 9.99 and I used my ECBs to help cover the cost. So I guess for less than $5 Chunk was worth it, especially, since my daughter loves to play with him... |
