Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters

The latest toy craze to hit the stores and have just been put on the top ten toy hot list for Christmas.  At first, limited supply meant that unscrupulous traders were inflating the prices of these furry creatures to ridiculous levels, as is the case most of the time with the latest ‘must have’ toy.  Fortunately, reality has now set in and the hamsters themselves, as well as the range of add on accessories can now be found at normal prices.

The hamsters themselves come in four varieties – Pipsqueak, Num Nums, Mr Squiggles and Chunk.  Each of them different in color and with their own unique personalities.  Small in size and full of movement and sound, they will scurry around and really provide your kids with endless hours of interactive fun.  Simply push your hamster’s back to set it into loving or explore mode, or push again to turn it off for sleep.

The accessories that are available for the Zhu Zhu hamsters allow your child to expand the interactive nature of the hamster pet and really get the most fun and play time with them.  The Funhouse is the most popular accessory which essentially provides a hamster habitat for your child’s hamster to go scurrying around in and out of.  Other accessories range from skateboards to cars to slides and exercise wheels.

Both the hamsters themselves and the accessories are well built and provide endless hours of fun and interaction for kids.  We would emphasize, however, that the manufacturer does not recommend this toy for children under 4 years of age.  The wheels do rotate quickly and rapid movement changes are part of the fun, however, care should be taken not to get things caught in the way of the spinning wheels, as is the common sense case with any small children and toys that have moving parts.

Parents that have been fortunate enough to have been able to get their hands on one of these hamster pets are more or less thrilled that it provides their child with endless hours of fun and peace and quiet during that time for the parent!  Kids love the interactive nature of the soft furry critters and putting their pet hamster through all of the accessories that are available on the market now.  The only downside that the parents find, is that the more the kids love them, the more they use them and hence the more batteries that they get through.  So be warned, invest in some rechargeable batteries, or get some spares when your kid’s hamster starts to move in slow motion.

Parents recognize the fact that they are not particularly educational (apart from experiencing hamster scurrying habits and sounds), but they are a great inexpensive bit of fun that your kids will love.  Adding some of the accessories for the hamster itself will increase their fun and play even more.  Accessories now range from cars to the funhouse to skateboards, to name but a few.
