The hamster runs down the tunnel leading to the garage and jumps aboard the car, the garage doors fly open and your child’s hamster is off on their drive. Parents generally buy their kid’s hamster(s) a car and garage hamster set as a further add-on to the ever expanding hamster world that their children are quickly building. Their kids are generally looking for something a bit more interactive and ‘fun’ than some of the other stationary accessories that you can get.

All in all, parent think that the car and garage set gives their children renewed fun and excitement and also the option to further extend their hamster’s interactive capabilities. Some parents voice concern with the quality of the garage doors themselves, but the very few comments along these lines would indicate that these are far and few between, perhaps only a set of isolated incidents, as is the case with most toys sold in such huge volumes these days.

This video shows a young boy demonstrating his Zhu Zhu Pets hamster set up, which includes the hamster itself, the hamster Funhouse and hamster wheel. In addition he has the hamster car and garage set. Watch and listen as his hamster scurries down the tunnel and onto its hamster car and then drives away through the garage doors exploring the world beyond. How much more fun can one kid have!

I purchased this entire set for my 4 yr old daughter about a month ago and it is the greatest toy ever! Yes, the garage does fall apart and the doors fall off, but all I used was one piece of tape all the way around to secure the roof and since then there hasn't been a problem at all!! You can't even see the tape, and it is a very easy fix. I do recommend that you use the tape trick especially if you have little ones like I do. They just aren't as gentle as older kids and she tended to knock the roof off easliy. I do not find that the hamsters get stuck at all. Most people don't really understand how these little guys work. First and foremost you have to replace the batteries in all the hamsters when you get them home. The batteries are only for in-store use and it says so on the instructions and on the website as well. Once you change the batteries....wow watch these little guys go! Secondly you have to pay attention to the tunnel directions, again in the instructions and the website, otherwise they will not work correctly. Thirdly, they do NOT get stuck, they make their own little decisions...just let them go and see what they do! My daughter LOVES these and has played with them non stop since she got them over a month ago. For the price they are great! (Not on amazon though, look at toys r us or walmart, or especially ebay instead they have the whole set for a pretty good deal!)

Just read through the other reviews and I'm very surprised with all the negative comments regarding this garage! I happen to think this is one of the best accessories for the fun house..!

Want to give a couple recommendations though for those who have problems with the garage staying together / not going anywhere. First, yes, the garage is extremely flimsy and will not stay together. It falls apart at the slightest move (or heck, when the zhu-zhu went through the doors it would fall apart!). How to fix? Simple, hot glue. It takes literally 30 seconds to hot glue the garage at all 4 snaps and it fixes your problem. The garage stays put.. the doors stay put and that is that - no more of it falling. Should you have to do this? Well, no, but its an extremely easy fix that is a solution to the problem.

Second issue.. how to get the car to go. When you put the car in the garage - do NOT push it all the way back! When you do this, you'll notice the car goes over a slight bump of some sort.. the zhu-zhu has problems getting on the car and wont go very far. Instead, put the car on the very edge of the garage, where the bumper is touching the doors when they are closed - all 3 of our zhu-zhus can "drive" this car just fine when it is like this (and, on carpet.. we have it upstairs on our carpet.. all 3 zhu-zhus have no problem going on our carpet!) - So there is a the solution for that issue.

When you do these things.. then it makes the garage one of the cutest accessories out there.. it is incredibly cute when the zhu-zhu goes down the ramp, into the garage and up the car and just "drives" it out! The zhu-zhu will stay on the car and just drive it around until you take it out of the car. We really do love this accessory.. quite entertaining (and the cats love it too!)

this is so fun i got it for christmas. and 2 more zhu zhu pets.

Parental comment: Not an inexpensive toy. However it performs as promiced. The zhu zhu rides down a short tunnel. Gets into its blue hot rod. And sure enough away it goes. Kinda comical in a sence. No frills just straight out zoom zoom zoom.

This is our favorite ZHU ZHU accessory!!

HI, WE HAD GOTTEN THE ZHU ZHU SET, WE GOT THE WHOLE COMPLETE SET, IT IS REALLY BIG. THIS IS A VERY NICE TOY, MY GRAND KIDS LOVE IT. Hamsters driving cars is pretty funny!

Ok I have to admit seeing the little hamster roll up into the car and seeing it take off through the doors is pretty funny!!!
Really it is what it is, a plastic play car for the Zhu zhu pet hamsters.
While it does not seem overly durable it is an adorable accessory for the hamsters.
I did think the tubes were kind of hard to snap together, once together firmly I do not fear it will fall apart easily.
Just don't have very high expectations for it.

Yes it needs 2 strips of tape but it's still a "Must-Have" !

My kids received the fun house, the hamster wheel, and the garage + car for Christmas. It is by far the least durable (out-of-the box). It would have been 10x better if the tunnel was one-piece vs 2 flimsy pieces. But, like another review pointed out, a couple of clear masking tape will solve the problem. The kids love seeing one of the hamsters zip off in the car and out of the garage. It will keep going too at least on hard-wood floors. And most importantly, the car itself is very well-built and sturdy. Despite its flimsiness, I am pretty certain that your kids will absolutely love the garage set. I would not pay much over retail but at $15, it's worth it !!!

I don't like when a toy becomes the "Hot" item of the year and the retailers sell it for more than what it would normally cost. Otherwise, I can't really review the item because it is a Christmas gift for my kids and they didn't open it yet. However, I like that they offer this add on so my son can play along with my daughter since the toy seems to cater to mostly girls.

This toy is a wonderful idea, but needs more work. It attaches to the funhouse, and is easily put together, but it constantly falls apart. The doors come off and so does the roof of the garage. I don't know why they didn't make it like the funhouse in that it could snap together and stay put. The hamster works well, and jumps into the car perfectly, but if you touch the garage it falls apart. We are going to use packing tape to make it stay put. Otherwise, this is a fun addition the the Zhu Zhu collection. My daughter has the entire set, and this is the only one that gives her problems other than the hamster ball, which also is cruddy.
