Power Wheels 6 Volt Battery

When you are looking to buy a replacement Power Wheels 6 volt battery for your vehicle and presuming you simply want to replace like for like, then you currently have a choice of three official Power Wheels batteries for the 6 volt vehicles.  The correct 6 volt battery needs to be fitted to the appropriate Power Wheels vehicle so as to ensure maximum compatibility, performance and reduce problems or damage.  You should read the instruction booklet that comes with the battery, but generally it requires about an 18 hour initial charge and then extended periodic charges to keep it in maximum performance condition.

GREEN Power Wheels 6 volt battery
This particular 6 volt battery is appropriate for some of the older Power Wheels electric ride on toys out there.  The easiest way for the everyday person to know whether they need this green 6 volt battery is to check to see if your original battery is a green 6 volt battery.  Obvious really.  This battery provides a capacity of 6 amps / hour.  You may find that these green batteries are becoming more and more difficult to come by and some outlets are now offering a red replacement with adapter included so that it is compatible with your older vehicle, price wise it works out about the same, but if you really are having difficulty in finding a green 6 volt battery, at least the adapted red battery provides you with some form of alternative.

BLUE Power Wheels 6 volt battery
This rechargeable replacement battery is intended to be used with appropriate Power Wheels vehicles in the Toddler range.  Again, if you are unsure whether this 6 volt battery is right for your ride on toy, then check to see which model your original 6 volt battery is and simply replace like for like.  This battery provides a capacity of 4 amps / hour.  It is worth mentioning that you should only use the Power Wheels Toddler 6 volt charger with this battery to prevent any problems or damage.

RED Power Wheels 6 volt battery
This is the most common of the Power Wheels 6 volt batteries fitted on most of the latest 6 volt ride on toys.  Again, if you are in any doubt as to which color to buy and which 6 volt battery is right for your vehicle, simply replace like for like and you can’t go wrong.  If you are lucky enough to have one of the Advanced Series Power Wheels vehicles which run on two 6 volt batteries giving a total of 12 volts power, you should replace both batteries at the same time to prevent damage to the new battery and to ensure maximum efficiency and performance.  The red 6 volt battery is suitable for Type H 6-volt; Type H or Type A for Super 6-volt; and 12-volt vehicles (Preschool & Advanced Series only).  This battery has a capacity of 9.5 amps / hour.

Parents mainly just replace like for like and base their Power Wheels battery replacement choices on the color.  Easy, simple and it works.  That’s what the different colors were meant for.  Parent that bought these relatively inexpensive batteries after putting it off for so long and going through the usual process of their child’s vehicle needing more frequent charging, didn’t realize the difference in the actual power that a new battery actually gives.  Their kids are now able to have fun at the original full speed and the parents get to save a bit of money without the need to constantly recharge the battery overnight.

Tech support from Fisher Price is non-existent in my part of the world, where 800 numbers are not accessible, because their site doesn't have a customer service or tech support e-mail address listed. I needed important information, because I learned that the model I have was recalled for electrical problems, and I wanted to see exactly which parts needed to be fixed to solve the problem.

I'm sure that these batteries will last a long time with proper care, but wish the tech support was better
