Power Wheels batteries basically come in two power voltages, either 6 volts or 12 volts. If you are simply looking to replace your Power Wheels battery, then a simple like for like swap out is really the easiest solution. For those of you that are looking to modify and supercharge your vehicle, then your specific requirements will lead to your combined voltage purchase. Power Wheels 6 Volt Batteries The 6 volt line of batteries is the most complicated for the everyday customer, as they come in three types, all of which say 6 volt on the outside. To make life a little easier, Fisher Price has color coded each of the 6 volt batteries – green, blue and red. For simple replacement batteries, you will be looking to check which color of 6 volt battery came with your original car and simply purchase that color (green, blue or red). You should note that only certain 6 volt batteries are recommended and can be used with certain Power Wheels vehicles. Each 6 volt battery has a different capacity ranging from 4 amps/hour to 9.5 amps/hour. It is also worth pointing out that you should only use a compatible 6 volt battery charger when charging your 6 volt batteries, otherwise battery damage and lack of efficiency could result. Power Wheels 12 Volt Batteries The Power Wheels 12 volt battery is a whole lot easier to find the correct replacement model for your vehicle, since it only comes in one type and is color coded grey with a white top. Again, the simplest way to find the best replacement for your vehicle is to simply do a like for like swap out and in. Dedicated 12 volt battery chargers should be used to charge your 12 volt Power Wheels batteries in order to prevent damage and ensure maximum efficiency. |
